Job Description

I urgently require an experienced SENIOR THERMAL ENGINEER to work on site in Stevenage. Thermal System Architect required to support the Lead Thermal Architect. Activities Working on Scientific and Earth Observation spacecraft missions in the clients UK Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion System Engineering Department, performing the following roles; * Detailed spacecraft level thermal design and architecture * Definition of Thermal Control Subsystem (TCS) system level requirements and design * Management of TCS technical budgets * Definition of and support to system level thermal testing * Preparation of design documentation * Management of thermal analysis activities and cost account management (budget, schedule, risk) * Writing and review of thermal technical reports and specifications * Bid support * System mechanical/electrical/TTC/AOCS interfacing Qualifications and skills Essential First degree in Physics, engineering or appropriate technical discipline Desirable Working knowledge of the main European thermal analysis tools (Esatan, Esarad, Systema) would be an advantage Previous experience Essential Demonstrable experience of thermal design and analysis at spacecraft level, ideally in scientific and earth observation missions Desirable Suitable experience in a technical management role including work package management and team leadership. Experience of spacecraft level testing, sub contract management, interfacing with both internal and external customers. The client will also look at candidates who have a strong Aerospace background or possibly car engine industry. Experience of interfacing with other disciplines eg Structure/Propulsion/AOCS/TTC/operations. Good communication and presentation skills. Willingness to travel if and when required.
