Job Description

Housing Manager/Housing Advisor (Part Time 3 Days/21 Hours per Week) Home Based, UK-Wide or Based at Oxford office £35,000 pro rata plus Pension Our client is the national housing advice and information service for people with learning disabilities. As a small charity with the aim of helping people obtain the best housing option for their circumstances, they assist not only those with learning difficulties but also their relatives, carers and other professionals. They now seek to recruit a Housing Manager/Housing Advisor. Currently growing in response to increased demand for its services, the organisation is looking to recruit a Housing Manager/Housing Advisor to work 3 days/21 hours per week. Within this post, the Housing Manager/Housing Advisor will perform a range of key functions including: * Answering queries about housing by phone, e-mail and letter * Undertaking necessary research to give accurate information * Updating the website, reviewing and producing factsheets and briefings * Providing expert advice on welfare benefits * Providing ongoing help to clients, including home visits where required * Making funding applications for one-off projects * Attending meetings at government departments and other organisations To be considered for this position, the Housing Manager/Housing Advisor will need to demonstrate proven experience performing a similar role, along with a relevant housing or legal qualification, and experience in local authorities or a housing association. The business also requires someone with both knowledge and practical experience of welfare benefits and the law as it relates to housing and disabilities. In addition, the Housing Manager/Housing Advisor will be able to write in a clear simple style, as well as being computer literate, flexible and patient with a positive, can do approach to problem solving. Previous experience in learning disability services would be advantageous to your application, though this is not essential.
